Stars & Stamps Sketch #254

Operation Write Home has challenged us card makers with another great sketch. This one caught my eye and I decided to try it out today.
Happy Mother's Day to all you busy mom's and grandma's. Our son moved across the world to Spain last week :(   Thank goodness for Skype!

Now that I see it, I think the card would have been better with a narrow frame of black around the embossed part. I'll just make more!

Colorful Birthday Card

Yes, I shamelessly copied a card design from my crafting Pinterest board to make this simple b-day card for my dear daughter-in-law.
The designer patterned paper (reward pack from my demonstrator), cardstock ("In Color" collection), sentiment ("Wetlands"), aqua ink ("Coastal Cabana"), and dark pink ink ("Strawberry Slush") came from Stampin' Up. My new inchie punches came in handy for the squares, and the floral stamp is by Inkadinkadoo ("Meadow" set).

I could create cards like this all day! Fun, colorful, and simple. I'm lovin' it :)

My Oldest Stamp

Thanks to Shopping Our Stash for encouraging me to once again use this sweet little bear stamp on a card.
This stamp was a gift from my best friend in nursing school. She gave it to me at least 25 years ago long before I began paper crafting. It didn't get much use back then and I am glad I saved it.
And a loud shout-out to Tuesday Morning Sketches for the layout! I wanted a contrast to the shades of green so I picked this rather garish orange. It looks more subtle here. Hope you like it and thanks so much for stopping by my little blogspot :)

Tuesday Morning Sketches # 201

This sketch is rather 'busy' to me. Still, I had to give it a go. I used clear stamps from a set I found in a UK paper crafting magazine purchased in London by my daughter-in-law. Many of these type of magazines offer freebies (stencils, stamps, patterned paper) with purchase. They are very expensive if purchased in the states, not so much overseas. The flowers are paper-pieced and outlined in black. I also used my new nestability oval dies received in the mail this week. Yay!!
The stark white background was lightly chalked with green. It can be seen better in person.

S&S Midweek Challenge: Sentiment as Focal Point

This card is totally CAS and was created because I needed a sympathy card. The sentiment is not appropriate for Operation Write Home, but it fits the guideline for this challenge. Hope you like it!

SOS Challenge #98: Bargain Bin Find

Let's admit it---we can't pass up those dollar bargain bins. This stamp set was purchased at last year's Scrapbook Expo for $1. I purchased a couple of other econo stamp sets, ink pads for $1 (some of which were dry, others are just fine), and 10 punches for $1. You read it right. Couldn't pass up that bargain even though I've never used most of the punches ;)

President's Day VCMP: Disappearing Act with Sketch 63

This is one of the best challenges ever with instructions on how to make 6 cards with one 12x12 designer paper, 2 pieces colored cardstock, and sentiment/embellishment of your choice. My actual card bases are white and I have a stack of those ready at all times. I have been moving into the world of 6x6 paper pads but still have loads of 12x12 papers. This is my 1st of 6 cards I have ready to assemble. Hope you like it!
