Last evening I boldly CASE'd this CAS card from the awesome gallery at The Stamps of Life (thanks Lauralooloo!). The cake stamp is from the "cake2build" set, sentiment from the "birthday2celebrate" set, the cake is paper pieced using Graphic 45 DP. The border punch is by ek success and the ribbon is by Recollections. I plan to make a few more in different colors.
A place to celebrate my creative spirit with card making for Operation Write Home, my love for the best husband a girl could have and for my dear Princess Kitty Chloe, and the abundance of Divine Blessings in my life. "You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand" Psalms 16:11

OWH Design Bootcamp: Basic Color Theory
The Stars and Stamps blog by Operation Write Home has a great tutorial about color theory along with amazing card samples. These samples exemplify monochromatic, analogous, and complementary color combinations. My card is monochromatic and CAS. I thought about adding pink flowers or a butterfly, then decided to dry emboss the DP and leave as is. The subtle design of the paper and pretty ribbon work for me. This card will also be entered into the Shopping Our Stash Challenge 86: Use Your Oldest Ribbon and The Cheerful Stamp Pad Challenge # 52: Tickled Pink.
And I would be 'tickled pink' if you would be so kind as to take a minute and Join my site! Thank you.
Ribbon: "Holiday Time" Fabric Ribbon from Wal-Mart (never used, very old, it was most likely on sale)
Embossing Folder: Sizzix/Hero Arts and Cuttlebug

OWH Sketch #156
Happy Martin Luther King, Jr. Day! It is also Presidential Inauguration Day! I would have been at work today, except I have been retired for almost 4 months now, so everyday is Saturday :)
Here's my card for this great sketch. I ran out of room for the sentiment (oops).

Stars & Stamps Midweek Challenge: Sentiment Free
This is a great challenge! I enjoy creating cards with no sentiment, although I admit the card sometimes looks "unfinished" without one. Here's a CAS card made with:
Sticker: Penny Black
CS and DP: my stash
I fussy cut the butterfly from the sticker sheet since it was not designed to be an individual sticker. Before cutting it out, I placed in on a scrap of cardstock and used dimensional adhesive to raise it up a bit.

ODBD January Challenge: Dry Embossing
This card was created for the Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge for Operation Write Home. For every 25 cards posted on the Stars and Stamps blog (up to 50), ODBD sponsors one box of cards sent to our deployed military. Thanks so much!
This card also works for the Shopping Our Stash Challenge 84: Use Your Old Buttons.
I keep a small jar of buttons in my craft room and add to it whenever I find another button, but hardly ever use them on my cards. Yes, they are old ones!
I really like this sentiment stamp as it can be used for many occasions such as birthday, graduation, anniversary, new home, new job, even retirement!

Child-Friendly Cards
In the aftermath of the terrible tragedy at Newtown, the fearless leader of Operation Write Home asked us to create 20 child-friendly cards for deployed parents to send to their children. Here is a sample of my creations:
The squirrel and birds are pre-colored digi's from Doodle Pantry, and the boy-on-bicycle is a sticker I have had in my stash for years by Me and My Big Ideas.
