Unscripted Sketches #219

It took awhile to come up with an idea for this sketch, then I decided to use a 6x6 pad of patterned papers and here is my card!
This card will be linked over at Unscripted Sketches.

OWH Design Bootcamp: Major, Minor, and Accent Colors

Today we learned about choosing three colors for our card designs and how to keep them balanced. The idea is to use the 60-30-10 Formula. My choice was to use Pink 60%, Black 30%, and White 10%.
The circle is lifted with dimensional adhesive and the ribbon secured with narrow, double-sided red tape.

Relaxin' in an Easy Chair

Guess what I bought! A stamp-and-die combo I could not pass up. This easy chair is so sweet! And when I saw it I knew that the pillow could be paper-pieced and that is just what I did. Confession time: I have dies and stamps in my collection that have never been used :(
Which makes me wonder why I bought them. So today I used these while they were new and fresh and I know they will be used often.

Unscripted Sketches # 214

Between yesterday and early this morning I managed to wrangle bits and pieces from my stash to create this card. I like the pink-and-brown combination. I cut up most of my patterned 12x12 papers into A2 card-sized pieces some time ago and I'm glad I had this pretty one left to use for the current Unscripted Sketches challenge.

SOS Challenge #101: Scrap Attack

This week our challenge is to "shop our stash" for scraps to use on a card. No problem! It took a while to find scraps that actually went together, though.

In Honor of Jane E, devoted OWH card maker

Operation Write Home has lost a creative lady who brought joy and comfort to the friends and family of our deployed military through her creativity and devotion to making cards. Here is my CASE of one of her cards. You can see them all at the OWH Blog, Stars and Stamps.

The scan of this card did not work well with showing off the sherbet-like colors. The wide strip is green and the larger circles a bright yellow. It looks so pretty in person. Sorry it looks so faded here.

SOS Challenge #100: Mother's Day or Pink

I had to dig deep into my stash for the flower. It was a gift years ago. I removed the large, round, sparkly pink center and replaced it with a pink brad. Unfortunately, it still may be too thick to use as a card for Operation Write Home. Still, I like the pink and green combo on the card and the matching colors of the flower made it too good not to use :)

OWH Sketch # 168

Wow...another terrific sketch. I've been meaning to use this owl paper for some time. So this is the time. I am also in the midst of a project to trim down my 12x12 papers to A2 card size. These light brown and dark brown papers were ready for the trimmer so I used them on this card instead.
I can see that my positioning is somewhat off-center. I have kits made up to make multiples of this card and I will be more careful in the future ;)
I do like the masculine color combination, though.

Pattern Play Day 4

This card was created using the "creasing, distressing, and sanding" technique to add a grid to patterned paper. After my first look at the video, I thought this would be difficult. But I pulled out my scoring tools and tried it anyway. I like it! I do not like the way the placement of the paper pieces ended up, but the truth is I was in a rush to see if I could put it together. I will take my time on my next card using this technique.
All patterned papers are scraps from my stash.

S & S Midweek Challenge: Red, White, & Blue

After a long dry spell due to Christmas prep and BFF in hospital since Thanksgiving, today I felt like designing a card for this challenge.  I used the HUGS stamp for the first time!
I hope to keep my mojo working for the rest of the week :)

S & S Midweek Challenge

This week, OWHer's are creating masculine cards! I deem this one masculine because of the manly Designer Paper I used. This card will also be entered into the Shopping Our Stash challenge #66 to use one of our favorite crafting items. This owl stamp is one of my favorite things because she is adorable, the googly eyes fit perfectly, and I can paper piece her!
The DP is from the Kraft Funday paper pad by My Mind's Eye, the owl stamp is by The Stamps of Life, the little brown circles are Candi, and the sentiment is from the Nutty forYou digital stamp collection by Doodle Pantry. Hope you like it!

Our Daily Bread Designs August Challenge

Operation Write Home card-makers are challenged to make at least 25 "masculine" cards this month.
ODBD has offered to finance the shipping of 1-2 boxes of cards to our deployed military: 1 box if we make and post 25 cards, 2 boxes for 50 cards. Thanks a million, ODBD!!
My card is a little cute and a lot masculine thanks to the manly colors I have chosen.
The papers are from my stash, the brown circles are Candi embellishments, the edger punch is by ek success, and the owl stamp and sentiment by The Stamps of Life.

Memorial Weekend Sketch #123

Our hearts are with those who have lost loved ones in past and current conflicts. Our family has been blessed with many brave members of the military from the killing fields of the Civil War to the brutal battles in Viet Nam.
When I think about the losses our nation has known, I am both saddened and proud of our heroes. May each one lost rest in peace.

I followed the sketch closely and am happy with the results. All DP is from the "Tigerlilly" collection by KaiserCraft, die cut flourish by Sizzix, the sentiment from The Stamps of Life.
Thank you for visiting!
