S& S Midweek Challenge: Miss You

Operation Write Home needs Missing You cards for our deployed military to send home to their family, friends, and loved ones. I am getting ready to send a box of cards to OWH so created one more to enter this challenge. A CAS card!

Greens and Blue and More

This card will be entered in the Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Challenge #7. It was so much fun to create, mainly because this sketch is awesome!! I used one of my recent purchases (the chair die and stamp set) and added texture to the background. The chair has a paper-pieced pillow, and chair and sentiment are raised with dimensional adhesive.

OWH Sketch #182

These sketches are so easy to follow! Thanks to the precise measurements of each element. Sketches are always good, but these are always great :)
I found the patterned paper at the recent Scrapbook Expo in a bin of double-sided patterned 12x12 paper for 33 cents each. I bought a few of them to make cards following the "One Sheet Wonder" formula. When I looked more closely at this paper, I realized the front and back were almost the same pattern, only one was smaller. So this paper would not work for the One Sheet Wonder idea. Then when I saw this sketch, I knew this paper would work for a CAS card like this:

S & S Midweek Challenge: It's About Time

Embossing this card was less fun than usual as my heat tool has a mind of it's own and sometimes decides not to work. It finally did work, and here is my card.

OWH Design Bootcamp: Basic Color Theory

The Stars and Stamps blog by Operation Write Home has a great tutorial about color theory along with  amazing card samples. These samples exemplify monochromatic, analogous, and complementary color combinations. My card is monochromatic and CAS. I thought about adding pink flowers or a butterfly, then decided to dry emboss the DP and leave as is. The subtle design of the paper and pretty ribbon work for me. This card will also be entered into the Shopping Our Stash Challenge 86: Use Your Oldest Ribbon and The Cheerful Stamp Pad Challenge # 52: Tickled Pink.

And I would be 'tickled pink' if you would be so kind as to take a minute and Join my site! Thank you.

S&S Midweek Challenge: Miss You

After all the celebrating with family during the holidays, along with visiting my good friend in the hospital since Thanksgiving, I lost my creative mojo. Yesterday and today, I finally sat down and created cards for Operation Write Home.
Here is my "Miss You" card suitable for a young boy. I made several more of these with little girl and boy stickers.

When I saw this idea used on a card (the square cut-out), I knew I wanted to try it. So this Stars & Stamps Our Daily Bread Designs challenge became my chance !

OWH Sketch #149 and S&S Midweek Challenge

Here's one card for 2 challenges! This uses the OWH Sketch (with artistic license) and the Stars and Stamps Challenge "Love or Hugs". I figure if a bear offers someone a "warm & fuzzy" it is similar to a human hug!

Stars & Stamps Midweek Challenge

Today we are making a "missing you" card. Although mine has a different sentiment, I think it works. I had fun paper-piecing the little house and masking the cloud. I should have distressed the edges. Next time!

Stars & Stamps Our Daily Bread Designs Challenge

The challenge this time is to choose three elements in a row either vertically, horizontally, or diagonally (as in a tic-tac-toe matrix) and incorporate them on a card. This was a great challenge and I decided to use "stripes, layers, and die cut".
Our Daily Bread Designs will be making a shipping donation based on the number of cards. ODBD will sponsor one large box of cards for every 25 cards linked to the challenge post, with a maximum of 2 boxes per month. So tell all your friends to come and enter the challenge too! Post your cards at the Stars & Stamps blog.

OWH VCMP Challenge #11: Rainforest

This challenge called for using greens with a splash of color. I immediately thought of using my frog stamp set. In keeping with the theme, the sky is green. The splash of color is the pool of water. I used a Hero Arts cloud stamp as a template and chalked the outside of the clouds using green blending chalk. It is difficult to see in the picture, and looks better in person. I stamped the frog (2-step stamping using the outline stamp with black ink and the 'inside' stamp with green ink) and lily pad on white cardstock and cut them out. I'm not sure if I will add a sentiment.

OWH Bling Challenge

The most recent OWH challenge was to make a card using bling without using glitter. Here are 2 colorful cards I made using clear and golden rhinestones. I used the "2 stamping" technique on the flower: the black outline is made with one stamp and the petals are made with another matching stamp. You will notice my dancing kitty made another appearance. This time I cut her dress out of patterned paper and attached it to her stamped image.
