Stars & Stamps Sketch #254

Operation Write Home has challenged us card makers with another great sketch. This one caught my eye and I decided to try it out today.
Happy Mother's Day to all you busy mom's and grandma's. Our son moved across the world to Spain last week :(   Thank goodness for Skype!

Now that I see it, I think the card would have been better with a narrow frame of black around the embossed part. I'll just make more!

OWH Sketch # 220

This is different! The patterned paper is a scrap I had sitting on my desk waiting for the right card. Sketches are great as a starting point for card-making. I think this sketch would be a good one to use with a 6x6 designer paper pad. I would use contrasting paper instead of the ribbon used here. It looks a bit lumpy in person.

Cards for Mom

The Operation Write Home deadline for Mother's Day cards is fast approaching (March 31st). This year I opted to make several "Love You, Mom" cards instead. These can be used for the holiday or anytime of the year since it is always good to send Mom some love.
I purchased this stamp from a catalog last year and was surprised to see how large it was when it arrived. It was meant to be used for moms or sweethearts and I was determined to make it work. After a couple of fails, I settled on this simple design. The image is raised with dimensionals behind the black scalloped frame.

Greens and Blue and More

This card will be entered in the Unscripted Sketches Summer Flashback Challenge #7. It was so much fun to create, mainly because this sketch is awesome!! I used one of my recent purchases (the chair die and stamp set) and added texture to the background. The chair has a paper-pieced pillow, and chair and sentiment are raised with dimensional adhesive.

TMS #208

Hey, it's Tuesday, and you know what that means! Another fun Tuesday Morning Sketch. I discovered this adorable pre-colored digital image and couldn't wait to use it. The snowman is warming up in a cup of steaming hot cocoa after a cold winter day. It never really gets cold enough for hot cocoa here in SoCal, but when the temperature drops below 60 degrees, a warm cuppa is definitely in order :)

Because I used the "winter trees" embossing folder that was made for a vertical card, I had to cut the middle section down so everything would go together. Then the printed sentiment was so long, I decided to place it standing on it's side. The center circle is lifted with dimensional adhesive.

TMS #207

It's Tuesday, and I've spent the last few minutes (closer to an hour!) working on a card for the current Tuesday Morning Sketch with a Twist: Use an Animal Image.
Chloe is my cat. And though she has the coloring of a Siamese in the body of a Domestic Short Hair--and looks nothing like this kitty--I love all cats and really love the collection of cat images including this orange kitty, from Clearly Digi Stamps.
Addendum: Thanks, Tuesday Morning Sketches, for choosing this card as a "Top 5" winner!! Kitty says thanks, too :)

A Berry Sweet Card

Whoa. I was full of mojo this weekend and made an incredible 18 cards! That is super for me. They are all for my August box going to Operation Write Home. I know it's only July, but we are on grand-baby watch and I need to stay ahead. Just in case I want to spend some time with Baby Hannah who is due in August :)
The majority of cards I made are from the One Sheet Wonder template. This one was made today specifically for OWH and Doodle Pantry. Thanks for stopping by!

DPDC35: Use a Doodle Pantry Image

As I've said before, I look forward to the first of the month when Doodle Pantry has a new challenge! My stash includes a boat-load of Doodle Pantry images so it is just a matter of deciding which one to use. This time I printed out one I used for the first time here. Isn't it adorable? And the card will come in handy soon. My first grandchild is due in August!!! She's a girl ;) And I'm pretty sure she will be a very Sweet Baby.

S & S Midweek Challenge: Recipe Mix

This is my kind of recipe (I'm not exactly a gourmet cook). I was in the middle of working through a 6x6 paper pad per the tutorial at Operation Write Home when I saw this challenge, so I used some of the paper.
Here's the recipe:

2 Patterned Papers: "Gnome Sweet Gnome" paper pad by My Mind's Eye
Border Punch: ek Success
Ribbon: "Celebrate It" by Michael's

ODBD February Challenge: Fruit

This was a tough one. The only 'fruity' idea I could come up with was to use the Strawberry Ants from Doodle Pantry in a new design.
I really like the way it turned out!
I fussy-cut part of the pre-colored digital stamp then adhered it to some cardstock to firm it up. The image has been lifted using dimensional adhesive.

S & S Midweek Challenge: Red, White, & Blue

After a long dry spell due to Christmas prep and BFF in hospital since Thanksgiving, today I felt like designing a card for this challenge.  I used the HUGS stamp for the first time!
I hope to keep my mojo working for the rest of the week :)
